A BRIGHT AND BREEZY KITCHEN

One of the most exciting aspects of Interior Design is incorporating new design concepts into an existing space. The designer has to determine what elements should stay, what needs to be removed and what can be modified and improved upon.

With this bright and colorful 280-square-foot kitchen, the designer completely transformed the space with newly painted cabinetry, new backsplash tile, colorful fabrics and coordinating window treatments.

A “New Orleans” flair was a must for this young, fun client from Louisiana. The designer was inspired by Vervain’s Secret Garden fabric: a colorful, modern floral print. Vanguard counter stools were upholstered with the fabric, and custom pillows were made for the Keeping Room adjacent to the Kitchen, infusing the colorful scheme.

In addition to refinishing the cabinets and painting the walls to set a light and airy backdrop, a graphic backsplash with high contrast in black and white was added for that final wow factor. Schumacher window treatments were hung to pull the look together. All in all, the vibrant spirit of New Orleans merges with the modern needs of a young family to complete this extensive kitchen transformation.
