CONTEMPORARY DINING ROOM DESIGN

As if often the case, the homeowners’ style evolved over time and they were ready for an updated, effortless look. Taking the formerly red-toned dining room to a lighter, more contemporary look with rich neutrals, clean lines and layered textures was the first step in transitioning the rest of their home into this new style.

The designer was challenged to create an in-style design with grey tones and contemporary pieces while also creating a unique look tailored to the homeowners’ taste. Updating the table, chairs and server in pieces with clean lines and rich wood tones established the contemporary look. To give the room interest and depth, the designer used custom Romo drapery and Thibaut Highline woven wallpaper. The wallpaper has a subtle design that plays off of the geometric design in the rug. The light tones of the rug and wallpaper paired with the dark wood furniture gives the room some needed contrast while the handmade slate gray glass bowl lends an organic shape that juxtaposes the otherwise straight lines.

The new sophisticated dining room sets the tone for the fresh look and feel the homeowners envisioned allowing them to transform their entire house into a sleek, contemporary space.
