This redesigned yacht represents a lifelong dream fulfilled. The new owner, a captain of industry, is charting his life’s next course on this 116-foot Lazzara mega-yacht.

Christened “Money for Nothing,” the ship serves as a reminder that success is meaningless, unless you take the time to explore, dream and discover.

The boat made its initial debut in 2009, but for the new owner, the interior design felt overly ornate and ostentatious.  So, a complete renovation was needed to create a modern, clean-lined aesthetic to compete with the sleek design of newly minted yachts.

The project’s interior designer decided that a modern twist on a classic nautical theme, pairing traditional Ralph Lauren textiles with contemporary furniture and finishes, was the perfect approach.

The biggest design challenge was ensuring that any new furniture and fixtures meet the restrictive weight and size requirements for the yacht. From the anchored glass top dining table to the stateroom beds, everything had to be custom-made and perfectly planned for this unique space.

Another challenge was opening up the floor plan within the ship’s finite foot print. The designer reworked the main salon floor plan, removing an interior wall to make the space feel larger and offer versatility. Heavy pink-toned marble flooring was replaced with a more relaxed, wood-look, luxury vinyl plank floor.

In the galley, crisp white quartz countertops were incorporated to lighten the environment and contemporary polished chrome plumbing fixtures were added. The upper deck features modern outdoor furniture with crisp blue and white accessories to complete the scheme.

With its fresh, new design, the yacht now serves as the ultimate luxury vacation home, taking its owner and his guests anywhere their hearts desire.
