UNIVERSAL DESIGN MASTER BATH

Homeowners in Chesterfield wanted to redesign their bathroom to create an inviting space with a modern spa-like feel and ample storage that would also be useable as they age, fitting the growing age-in-place trend in design.

Taking the room to the studs resulted in a more gracious layout. A large his and hers shower with two shower heads, a zero entry and French doors allow for wheelchair access down the road and the addition of a handshower lets a caretaker assist someone.

The designer selected low maintenance materials to make it easy to care for, but high-end elements were mixed in to achieve the desired spa look. Italian Calacatta marble on the shower floor accents the porcelain wall tile. Beautiful gray-toned Rio Blanco quartzite tops the custom-built, grey-stained vanity and rectangular undermount sinks. Cracked Cork wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries behind the vanity accentuates the grey wall paint that has a unique metallic finish. Altogether the tonal silver and grey colors neutralized the color palette creating a calm and serene feel.

The peaceful bathroom is more than just a pretty space. The homeowners now have abundant storage in a room they can enjoy for many years.
