A PATTERNED POWDER ROOM

The half bath in this historic Clayton home reflects its owners’ commitment to honor its history while reimagining an existing, overly-crowded bathroom. Blending the wife’s traditional style with the husband’s modern aesthetic in a very small space was a challenge.

Facilitating a more functional layout, the designer removed the shower and selected modern design elements with a small footprint and light feel. A floating vanity, toilet and wall-mounted faucet maximize the space. The matte black faucet, sconces and other accessories by Jason Wu for Brizo pair perfectly with the Luce Lavatory vanity in a sleek silver oak finish. The mirror, with its matte black finish and rounded corners, complements the soft lines of the faucet and sconces.

Traditional elements, such as the slate floor repeated in other parts of the house, create a cohesive feel with the rest of the home. Bold green and gold Fornasetti wallpaper in a hidden key motif fits a home built in the 1930s. The classic bullnose Carrara marble wainscoting appeals to modernists and traditionalists alike.

This perfectly blended style gives the owners a beautiful and functional bathroom they can both enjoy.
