A STORIED GARDEN
After 40 years of living in, renovating, and loving their forever home, the homeowners of an exquisite historic home decided it was time to give their outdoor space the attention it deserved.
The story of this backyard renovation reads more like a fairytale, with the homeowners’ thoughtful designs coming to life and making the space perfectly curated for their personal enjoyment. Not unlike past projects for this home, it was important to incorporate antiques; the couple wanted to use antique wrought iron gates and an old fountain they sourced from Savannah, Georgia. Other items on the priority list included an outdoor fireplace and sectioned-off areas to utilize depending on mood or the time of year.
Collectively, the team and homeowners devised a wonderful and unique plan, which included an existing gazebo, the antiques, and sourced brick and pavers to coordinate with the entire outdoor color scheme. Whether you’re gathering around the fireplace, sitting in the shade of the gazebo, or dining alfresco, this space feels like somewhere other than in the bustle of a city.
The fun colors and pattern play of the textiles mirror the decorative style of the home’s interior and reflect the couple’s combined taste of traditional and contemporary design. In addition to the impressive landscaping and existing natural elements, the stonework, brick, and textiles have really elevated the look and feel of the entire home.
