COLORFUL AND COLLECTED

Starting with a blank canvas of Benjamin Moore Oxford White, the designer was tasked with creating an informal, colorful living room for a young family to entertain.

Taking a nod from current fashion trends, the designer embraced a modern take on color blocking by pairing bright lively colors with unexpected textures. From the thick woven fabric of the chartreuse round ottoman to the luxurious soft velvet of the teal swivel chairs, bold solid colors mixed with strong textural fabrics create a playful combination.

Neutral grey sofas, a simple white mirror, and black and white custom artwork by local artist Ted Collier help to balance the saturation of color throughout the rest of the room.

To complete the look, the designer chose not to use pattern, but instead to create two-toned chunky felt pillows with bold pops of leather trim to offer an endless array of options for changing up the look of the space over time.

This, paired with whimsical elements like the bottle brush trees lining the mantel, create a cheerful room for a family who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. It’s practically impossible not to smile when entering this refreshingly light-hearted space.
