EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN
Built in 1912 in the heart of University City, this Greek Revival-meets-Southern Colonial home underwent a major transformation when the new homeowners purchased it. While the home had spectacular bones and rich architectural details, these elements were overlooked throughout the years. A whole-home renovation meticulously restored this house to its original integrity while creating a dwelling place for a fun-loving family.
Taken down to the studs and painstakingly revived for modern-day living, this renovation left no stone unturned. The original millwork was restored and replicated to match throughout the home, and the original hardware was given a second life through replating. The design team even repaired the broken shutters and cabinet doors found in the basement, ensuring the home kept its authentic, historic feel. By preserving the home’s character and craftsmanship, these storied details were restored to their rightful prominence.
Throughout the renovation, historic architecture serves as the foundation for a fresh and layered interior. Updated finishes, furnishings, and fabrics pair with the home’s original details and personality to create a unique space that honors the past and the present. Collected and thoughtful, this home mixes tradition with fresh function, revealing the complexity and the reward of a historic home renovation.
