OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS

This cheerful children’s room is perfect proof that there is no place like grandma’s house. The homeowner, a busy grandmother of four, wanted to create a kid-friendly room intended for all-important sleepovers and play dates. The designer imagined a new space that is colorful, crisp and comfortable.

This bright new space was designed to easily transition from nursery to teen hangout, and eventually, guest room. The designer mixed fun graphic prints with textural elements to create a cozy interior that is youthful while having grown-up appeal.

The window treatments and bolster pillow feature Romo’s Camille fabric, a lively poppy design in a painterly style. The wallcovering, Shumacher’s Twiggy, provides a delicate statement on the headboard wall while the matelassé bedding and cable-knit ottoman fabric adds soft texture.

The furniture is a clever mix of cost-effective and investment pieces that stand up to busy children, while adding bright bursts of color. The animal print artwork and scalloped drum shade fixture offer a charming vintage appeal.

Like a warm hug from grandma, this children’s room is inviting, comforting and always there when you need it.
