QUIET MODERNISM

Upon entering this condo you cannot help but admire the views. On one side you have the St. Louis Arch, and the other shows the expanse of the city’s beloved Forest Park. The homeowners cherish these views and made it a priority that no furniture come above the window sills. Another goal was to have every aspect be appropriate for kids to play freely during the day, but easily shift toward entertaining at night.

The design concept was simple; clean lines and flexibility. In the dining room rests an oak top table with a reverse bevel detail, a detail that is repeated throughout the home with intention by the designer. The living room stretches thirty feet and is arranged to be used as two intimate seating groups, also works for large entertaining. A custom wool rug runs the expanse of the space and connects the two furniture arrangements. The classic Charles sectional by B&B Italia is a champion for this young family with its clean lines and optimal comfort. A custom coffee table made of walnut with a reverse bevel marble top has two drawers facing outward for accessible storage.

Believing a room always needs elements that feel collected and classic, the designer selected the classic Mouille style ceiling fixture that added an a-symmetrical twist to the space. A custom credenza with a bevel detail on the shelves anchors the far wall and creates an opportunity for additional storage and a place to display items from travels. Mid-century styled walnut chairs in a shearling texture offer a cozy place to sit across from the M.a.s.s.a.s. sofa by Moroso, which has a deep flat seat and jumbo welt, that creates a lounge vibe suitable for reading books to little ones or listening to music while admiring the skyline views.
