TAILORED TRADITION
When the homeowners purchased their house in 2020, they knew it would be their forever home. As a family of four and a lover of timeless interiors, having a home that would not only encapsulate thoughtful and collected design, but could also allow their family to grow up was essential.
The goal of the dining room was to create an elevated and functional space that could double as an everyday family dinner table and a moody space for hosting dinner parties. The room needed to be durable enough to handle the wear and tear of everyday life while being sophisticated enough for elevated entertaining. The designer brought this vision to life with her thoughtful design and intentional details. Pocket doors open up to the kitchen to allow easy access for daily use or they can be closed for private entertaining. A layered wool rug adds a refined texture while being a functional performance element for spills and messes. Similarly, the chair fabric was selected to withstand daily family use, yet the designer paired the fabric on an elegantly shaped chair so as not to compromise form over function.
The homeowner was strongly influenced by Italy’s rich tradition of mural art, and she felt compelled to incorporate that same beauty into her own home. She patiently waited for the right wallcovering and was thrilled to discover the perfect pattern by House of Hackney with its serene blue and green forest scape that cleverly brings the outdoors in. An organic bubble-shaped chandelier from Oly Studios hangs gracefully above the antique table to create a cohesive and tailored dining room.
The goal of this primary bathroom was to redesign the existing too-small bathroom that was ill-equipped for daily family use into a fresh and elevated space that could both withstand the wear and tear of everyday use and be a refined retreat for the homeowners. The designer began by knocking down partition walls that had made the layout feel choppy. Next, she rearranged the floor plan, moving the toilet to create more room for the shower, and designing a cozy bathtub nook framed by a sleek paneled front and tailored built-in cabinets.
The designer incorporated a warm-toned checkered floor tile pattern, adding both visual interest and traditional charm. A white oak vanity decorated with mixed metal finishes and a white marble countertop is a fresh take on a classic look. And the tub was thoughtfully designed with both bathtime and a place to unwind in mind.
Rooted in refined tradition and tailored for family life, this well-appointed home embodies the joys of a lived-in and well-loved home.
