Situated in the heart of Clayton, this home’s attractive quaintness and convenient proximity to downtown are perfect for this active family who loves to host, cook, and entertain. When the homeowner’s previous kitchen needed a refresh, they were eager to breathe new life into their well-loved home. The goal of this project was to create a more functional and updated space with careful consideration of each detail.

The first step in this renovation was reimagining the kitchen layout to improve function and aesthetic. The cooktop was moved from the island to the back wall to make space for a larger range and to create a striking focal point with the mixed-metal hood. From here, a statement slab was selected and quickly became the jumping-off point for the kitchen’s color palette and clean-lined design. Creamy white cabinetry enhances the tones in the stone while polished nickel and brass metals introduce a refined layer of contrast and warmth. A pretty Vervain mural wallpaper is a nod to the family’s southern roots, adding warmth and sophistication to the space.

One of the challenges of the project was working with a smaller space. Each square inch had to be thoughtfully considered for function, storage, layout, and design. It was important that the client could use the space for both exceptional entertaining and daily cooking. The design team cleverly built an entertaining bar adjacent to the range featuring the showstopping slab. The result is a place for the homeowners to effortlessly entertain and elevate their everyday living.
