2017 PINNACLE AWARDS: LIVING AREA
3rd Place – Living Area by Meghan Heeter
This gracious living room was specially designed as an oasis for the homeowner, a busy mom and educator. As a native New Yorker, she wanted to bring metropolitan style and sophistication to this suburban St. Louis home, while creating an inviting space where she could read the Times, play piano and unwind with family.
The designer set out to develop a comfortable floor plan that allowed for relaxation and conversation. To create a glamorous Park Avenue feel, subtle, yet sumptuous finishes were selected throughout, including metallic grasscloth wallcovering, embroidered drapery and a hand-knotted wool and silk rug.
To enhance the historical features of this 1940s home, the designer had the original wood flooring restored and refurbished the fireplace with a warm Crema Marfil marble surround.
Pairing soft organic Chinoiserie motifs, featured in the artwork and coffee table, with modern brass statement pieces, the new space is hip-traditional, eclectic and sophisticated.
